"Let's talk about the way things were..."

The 70s are making a comeback and I'm just a little excited. Ok, A LOT excited!!! From the superwide-leg pants to the bright colors, this is going to be an exciting season on (and off) the runway. Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam and Tory Burch (to name a few) are taking cues from fashion icons of that era and I'm loving it!

Aside from the clothes, 70s hair was something to talk about. Immortalized by Farrah Fawcett, the feathered back look was something I think every woman dreamed of pulling off. But another fun look from that time and on trend at the moment is the Maiden Braid. Click HERE for a tutorial from the nice people over at A Beautiful Mess.

Review Of The Day - Revlon PhotoReady Liquid Foundation

There has been some buzz lately about the new PhotoReady Foundation from Revlon so of course I had to give it a try. It comes in a liquid form and also a cream that turns into liquid thanks to the liquefying screen. That sounded too funky so I went with the plain old liquid.

If you're looking for something with minimal coverage, I would recommend this foundation. It's lightweight, blends with your skin tone very well, has a pearlescent shimmer and is easy to apply. BUT, like I said, it offers very light coverage. It's not a very buildable foundation and when I applied more it made my skin appear cakey. That's the only down side I could find, but for $12 I'm going to be sticking with my mineral make-up.

Oscar de la Renta Resort 2011 Collection

I couldn't let this jewel of a collection slip by without sharing... pure brilliance.

Tip Of The Day - Free Foundation

Yes, you read the title - Free Foundation. So many women pass on this opportunity because 1. they're embarrassed or 2. they're too easily suckered into buying things. Get over both those hurdles and you can start enjoying free foundation. Next time you're at the mall approach the make-up counter of your choice. It could be Chanel (my personal favorite), Estee Lauder or Elizabeth Arden. Tell the overly done up woman behind the counter that you are looking for a new foundation and that you want them to find your perfect shade and give you a sample. It's that easy, then just walk away. You're out no money and you scored big time on expensive foundation!

Review Of The Day - Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

I'm not one to try new products that seem to offer extremely unreasonable results, so when I saw the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips there was some hesitation on my part. I took the plunge and purchased the Girl Flower design ($10 at CVS).

My opinion, these strips are amazing! You get the look of a Minx manicure (seen on the likes of Katy Perry, Beyonce, Blake Lively, Rihanna and Vanessa Hudgens to name a few.... ok, ok and Tyson Ritter) for a fraction of the cost. The kit comes with 16 nail polish strips, mini orange stick, mini file/shaper and instructions. If you have shorter nails you can cut the strips in half to get another use. Very easy to apply and no dry time which is a huge plus for someone constantly on the go. Definitely a product to add to your beauty repertoire.
